Dear Hturytteb

Thank you for your post. At present not enough research is supportive enough of metformin being used to prevent spread of NSCLC. A retrospective study showed that those who had diabetes and were on metformin were less likely to proceed to secondary cancer. But further and more detailed trials are required.

There are ongoing trials looking at this of which I have placed a link; clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show...

It is encouraging that there are 4 open clinical trials in the UK at present on metformin in early cancers- see link below
