Using Gefetinib

Hi all

My wife has been on Gefetinib now for 8months after it was found the cancer has spread to her bones. We were told yesterday that nothing has changed on her scans since she was first prescribed so what I would like to know is how long does this drug normally work for before the cancer begins to grow again.

many thanks Don

Hello Don

Response times to targeted therapies vary quite a lot. If you look at the "Browse by category" bar on the top right you will be able to hear from a number of different forum members who have been treated with gefitinib. I have also attached a link to our factsheet which can be downloaded from our website. Our last "Inspire" magazine, which is also on the website had a feature on targeted therapies.

We have a new booklet on targeted therapies currently being developed which will be available in the New Year.

Your wife's lung cancer nurse specialist should also be able to talk through more about her current treatment and future options.

Best wishes
