Hi opinion
What your doctor is recommending is standard of care. Systemic treatments like chemo are not recommended in stage 1a lung cancer. When they dissected those mediastinum lymph nodes they found no evidence that the cancer had entered the lymph system.
How large was the nodule they removed? A nodule does not establish its own blood source until it's at least 3 cm so they don't expect any metastasis that way.
I had a LLL lobectomy for a 1.7 cm nodule in early 2017. Pathology showed adenocarcinoma stage IA. It was via VATs and 18 adjacent lymph nodes were removed with no evidence of disease. No further treatment was recommended. Ended up with progression/recurrence in mediastinal nodes a year later and now am dealing with Mets to the sacral ala.I am thinking that I should have had prophylactic chemo after the surgery to prevent the future progression.
Maybe you should even it is not typically recommended in your situation.
