Focused Ultrasound

I’ve heard about Grisham’s book and reviewed some of the information on focused ultrasound for treatment.

Does anyone have any information regarding this treatment?

Thank you

Are you referring to the radiation treatment that uses an MRI to focus treatment as it is in process? If yes, it’s very cool. A friend of mine had this for progress in her pancreatic cancer and tolerated it very well. I spoke to the radiologist who did my lung cancer treatment and she has been trained on it. She was excited about it.

I’m not sure about the details. This is the website I was reading.

Thanks for sharing this. It’s something I had not seen or read about before. This article - fusfoundation.org/diseases-... -outlines some of the research and defines problems using it in lung cancers and how they think they can overcome them.

The single patient they used this on had a lesion that was close to the exterior of the lung. This suggests to my layman’s mind that it might be a great focused treatment for mesothelioma lung cancer. It also holds promise for organs that do not have small air filled avioli that will distort sound.

It will be years before they are ready to use this on patients regularly. There will be clinical trials and the FDA approval first.

This gives me something new to follow. Thank you for that.
