Has anyone had a Kyphoplasty?

Hi!! My mom is scheduled for a Kyphoplasty for pain relief, has anyone had one and how effective is it? Issues?

Three of my vertebrae were repaired with kyphoplasty. I went from being in constant pain to having a football and pizza party in my hospital room just a couple hours post surgery. The pain relief was that swift.

Prior to the surgery I was in a back brace and constant excruciating pain. The brace was to prevent the vertebrae from shifting and causing paralysis. Opiate medications didn’t even touch the pain.

The kyphoplasty returns much of the height of the vertebrae before inserting the bone cement. For that reason I experience only mild scoliosis. It would be much worse if I hadn’t had the surgery. There is some residual pain but I manage that well.

The kyphoplasty gave me my life back. I would recommend it to anyone who qualified.

Hi! My mom had this done and it amazingly helped so much with her pain. No issues for her. Hope all goes well with your mom.
