Happy Thanksgiving to all the members of the club no one elected to join. My wife and I had flu shots in early October and the Doc said that it would be wise for me to have another flu shot in late December or early January. Anyone who went through chemotherapy been told this? I finished chemo in mid August.
Thanks
Vince

I was told to get the double dose shot developed for seniors and people with compromised lungs or compromised immune systems. If the double dose shot was not available to you you should definitely follow up with the single shot.
It doesn’t combat every flu type but it does reduce the probability of having the flu. Those of us who’ve had radiation or chemo are more susceptible and it can have far more deadly consequences.
Thanks Denzie, I should have stated that I had the senior or double dose. Tomorrow I see my oncologist for the results of my first CT scan since chemotherapy, I will ask her if she concurs.
Thanks. I'm curious if any one else was told this. The way it was explained to me was that by the time the flu season kicks in fully (jan/feb/mar) the shot that we received in Oct is weakened or the virus mutated and may not protect us if our immune system is compromised.
