I'm a newbie too this condition learning about it, does the cold wheather make anyone elses leg ache more ?
Hello Sarah, I have had this condition for a few years now and in my experience the cold weather does affect my legs very much. I do find whenever I shiver my legs hurt like crazy even in the summer if I shiver they really hurt, I do find when I go abroad in the sunshine I don't expose my legs as they look awful covered in lumps but, I am so much more comfortable in the hot climate and the pain eases a little which enables me to move around better. Good luck anyway and you should keep in touch with this site it does help you knowing you are not alone with this disabilitating problem.

Hi Sarah...yes indeed the cold weather makes my legs hurt...I have had lymphoedema a few years and last year was bad for me cos I got cellulitis and ulcers resulted and I had the District Nurse visit for 5 and a half months..but I am well on the mend now...My legs are really good at the moment and I have gone down a size in compression stockings...I walk at least 20 minutes every day and that is helping a lot...
Hi Sarahj38, Yes your legs will hurt like crazy at times. I had to attend a funeral a few weeks back when the snow was at its worst, i had a long skirt on with thick wooly tights on top of my Compression garments and ankle snow boots but oh my goodness my legs were so bad i could'nt drive the car after the service, my brother had to take over my knees were so painful and my legs felt like they had just died, they were numb with the cold and i couldn't even rub them to try and heat them up. when i get like this the only thing that helps is sitting in a hot bath. I know it wont make you feel any better but its nice to know we are all experiencing the same symptoms.
OK hate to complicate this but I've had relatively mild lymphodema for 40 years and can't say I've every felt significantly more pain during cold weather in my swollen leg than my normal one. While I live in a warm house I regularly exercise outside in winter, often cycling 15-20 miles to-from the gym at weekends and have been skiing a couple of times recently. So cold weather has never made a noticeable different to my condition.
