I get very painful Calfs but it is becoming more disabiltising of late, walking hurts and I am relying on my husband to do housework. We have always worked at a team but now it's one sided. Has any one else get pains in the back of the legs and calf area?

Where is your lymphoedema? Is the pain in both legs? Is there any heat or redness in the skin? Does it get worse after you have been sitting or lying in bed? Does it feel like cramp? Have you been checked by your GP?

HI LENORA - TALK TO YOUR GP AS IT MAY NOT BE TOTALLY RELATED TO YOUR LYMPHEDEMA . IT COULD WELL BE INTERMITTENT CLAUDICATION WHICH IS AN ARTERIAL OBSTRUCTION LEADING TO A POOR BLOOD SUPPLY TO THE CALF MUSCLES WHEN UNDER MOVEMENT.

ITS AN ISCHEMIC DISORDER JUST LIKE ANGINA WHERE THE HEART BEATS UNDER A REDUCED BLOOD SUPPLY BECAUSE OF PLAQUE CLOGGING UP THE

CORONARY ARTERIES - CHEST PAIN WHICH CAN RECEDE WHEN YOU REST .

THE SAME FOR THE LEG MUSCLES.

IT USUALLY APPEARS WHEN U WALK AND STOPS WHEN U REST .

OR

CRAMPING - GET SOME MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENTS FROM A HEALTH FOOD OUTLET OR ON THE NET - MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE OR AN AMINO ACID CHELATE SSUCH AS MAGNESIUM GLYCINATE .

HOPE THAT HELPS

I have lymphoedema in both legs but more my right. There is no redness or heat to the skin. It's like cramp but worse and very painful. Tried the GP before and he put it down to night cramps and gave me quinine. If it does not subside soon I will get it checked by Lymphoedema nurse.

Thanks anyway.

Quinine never helped me -I hope you are by now refered to a Lymphoedema clinic as most GPs are hopeless. I had Q tablets dont take them now the cramp dosnt go away but i have found that if i can stand under a hot shower then everything seems to calm down quickly. Most of my cramps are at night /as i awake.

Lymphoedema is not easy to cope with and it seems to me to agrivate other things -i will have a week of back ache this week i have pain on the soles of my feet and it hurts to put a foot to the ground. I also have swelling in my knees and must get some weight off as i think the less preasure the better the joints will be. Good luck.

Yes me too it's only been recently my left calf is feeling hard and I've got itchy flakey skin on the same spot as I also am having a flare up of psoriasis that is not calming down very much at the momment I am moisturising four times a day to keep my skinn from cracking after the swelling goes down and to keep it soft and supple as my leg swells therefor hoping to keep infection at bay. I do get a massage on my leg from my hubby now and then which doesant help but it like the idea of it lol lol😜👍😀😃 you have to laugh sometimes spend to much time feeling like ....you know what😳. Best wishes Dodi.xx😊

That's just what has started happening to me ,but I have lymphadema in the same leg and now I've also had a flare up of psoriasis on the same leg which is normal for me but the calf is very tender to touch as well as having the flakey itchy skin going on . I've not been to the Docs as yet but after my holiday I will check it out .Im thinking it could be muscular but worried it might be a DVT best to check it if I was you I'm being stupid as I'm thinking I want this holiday so much don't want to end up having to go to hospital as I'm going away in four wks. hope you get it sorted soon hepsibar. Good luck take care Dodi.x
