Does anyone know if the techniques for LVA in Oxford (Alex Ramsden/Dominic Furness) are the same as used by Kelvin Ramsay at Marsden?

Yes I think that both use Koshima style supermicrosurgery as opposed to plain microsurgery. I know that Dominic Furniss went over to Japan to be trained by Koshima. I can send you an article about LVA supermicrosurgery if you want?

Thank for the replies. I have seen some articles on super micro surgery and my question was really whether Kelvin Ramsey was using the Koshimo technique or the one used by the Italian surgeon- I understand they are slightly different. Whisker5 has answered that - thank you.

Dr Campisi of Genoa. My understanding is that he does the LVA but makes 1 incision at a deeper level as opposed to Koshima who makes several small incisions close to the surface.

I have now had a consultation with Mr Ramsey at the Marsden, Sutton and am a candidate for the op. Just waiting to sort out dates for further tests. I am trying not to get too excited but am hopeful!
