My leg has become increasingly sore and more swollen m... - LSN
My leg has become increasingly sore and more swollen more so to with this heat I am struggling to get garments on anyone else like this? :'(
Sore as in painful? Any red patches on the skin? Hot to the touch? Could you have cellulitis?
Infection aside (please!!!): Do you try and don your garments soon after a shower or a bath? If so, try blow drying your legs (medium/cool heat - not set to stun!) to make sure there is no moisture on the skin surface, then try donning the garments. You could also, (although it isn't generally advised!) apply a very thin layer of talcum powder. Put some on your leg, then swish it in a downwards direction using a dry towel, so there is just the tiniest amount left on the skin - it may be just enough to prevent the garment sticking as you don it.
I was prescribed something called easyslide by my lymph nurse, you put it over your foot ,it comes up to just below the knee, put compression stocking over it, pull up, then pull off easyslide with loop that is attached to it, makes it so easy to get stocking on, comes with instructions, do hope this has been a help to you, take care xx
I live in Florida and it's always a challenge in the summer. First, I recently lost 40 pounds and that helps a great deal with my leg. Secondly, if you can purchase a pneumatic compression machine (if you don't have one already), that will help considerably with the swelling. Staying off your leg as much as possible, and elevating it always helps. Also, I wear thigh-high compression stockings. The JUZO brand is so much easier to get on than other brands I've tried. I hope this helps you. God bless!
