Today is the day...

I have been running around like crazy since my dad passed away in March. I am an only child, and my parents live in another city. It is about a three hour drive one way. So, with working crazy hours because of Covid, and running back and forth to my home town for my mother (who is NOT doing well since my dad is gone), I have really had a hard time getting control of my asthma. It is a constant bother at night with coughing and chest pressure during the day. Some days I can’t even talk without having to cough all the time.

Both my mother and my aunt back home have been after me to lose weight. I am about a size larger than I was before this stressful time (pandemic/death), and really I am wondering if if the weight I’ve put on has a direct effect on my asthma and symptoms.

So today, after work, I am starting a workout program and planning my meals better. I honestly don’t know if I will be able to exercise, just getting dressed in the morning is leaving me gasping for air these days. I am worried if I don’t, things may get really worse. Hopefully, this will help me. I am doing everything in my power to not go to the emergency, because that is where I work, and I really don’t want to show up there. Wish me luck! I bought a Beachbody program Insanity Max 30. Thinking maybe it will be too hard, but at least I am doing it at home and can stop at any time I feel I can’t go any further. :)

Walk....

Hi Willow7733

Glad to see you are getting into exercise.

As mentioned already walking is another good way to get some activity in each day and it helps with "stress eating" - get up and walk instead of eating that cookie - Can you tell i have the same problem? or to reduce stress and clear your mind.

Having extra weight may affect your asthma by making it more difficult to breath and you may become more short of breath with activity. It may also cause you have to more symptoms (like you described)

Ask a friend or relative to help be your encouragement coach!

Set goals on your smart device - my watch records my steps, laps, miles, minutes, type of workout etc. It also lets me know when I have been slacking!

Good luck to you and let us all know how you are coming along

Most importantly - keep working on gaining ASTHMA CONTROL.

Stay Safe:

Wash Your Hands

Watch Your Distance

Wear Your Mask

I couldn’t finish the work out. It was an eye opener for sure - I used to do this a few months ago. Was talking to a friend at work today and she convinced me to try to get over my phobia of going to the doctor and call them to get help. I do not have good control right now. And it is getting worse (was hoping I could just use more Ventolin, and it will eventually calm down). I am working eve I ha this week, so I really need to call my pulmonologist and figure out what I can do. I love to walk, but it is SO hot and humid out there. I feel it affecting my breathing just walking from work to my car. But I will run it by the doctor too what exercise I can do. I am also trying to eat better. My daily is not putting as much pressure on me these days to travel so much back home, so my stress level is getting better too. Which is a very good thing.
