Hey everyone. So I joined last week haven’t posted yet, I am on other groups for anxiety and depression and things like that, anyways.... I’ve had asthma since I was 7, diagnosed prettty early. I’m 29 now and I feel over the last maybe 10 years it has gotten worse??? Especially lately. I can’t seem to ever breathe correctly. I have anxiety too and it’s been way worse , I know having both of these things literally can go hand in hand and one will get worse cause of the other at times. Anyone else ?

Hi. I just read a book on breathing disorders and I learned that if you breath from your chest you could cause a variety of symptoms that could make you anxious. I struggle too sometimes with not being sure if I have anxiety or asthma. Sometimes I try to do something different to see which is which. I’m sorry I don’t know if this helps but you are not alone.

Hi! What medications are you on? Have you discussed this with your doctor? Some common asthma medications worsen anxiety and depression and are well known for those side effects.

As for “not breathing correctly,” can you be more specific? Do you breathe shallowly? Do you pant? Does your breathing change when you are in different positions - like sitting upright, or standing, laying on your side, reclining at an angle, bending forward, like to pick up something from the floor?

Does the breathing change happen before or during the increased anxiety? How long after taking any of your different medications do the symptoms appear, worsen or improve?

There can be a lot of explanations for both the anxiety and breathing issues. But it will be much easier for your doctors to figure out if you can provide more data and context to the problems. Any other side effects (from strange and very vivid dreams - common to allergies, to new allergy triggers caused by new sensitivity to something you never had a problem with before).
