To answer your question I have read that Doxycycline in Chronic Lyme is not helpful at all and can actually have adverse effects. However, there has been some old research on the use of Tetracycline, although I've never taken them myself. Here's an excerpt and it would interesting to know if this has been replicated with similar results as collective research pointing towards it's efficacy.
Two hundred seventy-seven patients with chronic Lyme disease were treated with tetracycline for 1 to 11 months (mean, 4 months); the outcomes for these patients were generally good. Overall, 20% of the patients were cured; 70% of the patients' conditions improved, and treatment failed for 10% of the patients. Improvement frequently did not take place for several weeks; after 2 months of treatment, 33% of the patients' conditions were significantly improved (degree of improvement, 75%-100%), and after 3 months of treatment, 61% of the patients' conditions were significantly improved.

I am sure as the community number increase others will comment with their knowledge about Antibiotics for Chronic Lyme Disease. I have recently done a parasite cleanse and feel this has helped a little, as bacteria hides and often can be associated with Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth.
Hope this helps

Doxycycline did make me worse. That is when the pain worsened and became severe.
Thank you I have only just seen for reply.
No problem at all - it’s not good that DRs are not agreed on the existence of Chronic Lyme and then prescribe Doxy that can make things worse. Getting the right Anti-biotics is then a battle too - each way we try to get ourselves help hitting a brick wall . It seems like your in a maze turning into dead ends all the time. It’s so frustrating to say the least and for some they are desperate as so unwell that without them it could be fatal.
It’s awful to read hundreds if not thousands in the sandbox position and being ignored by medics due to lack of research and adequate testing
