portable oxygen
Hi I've been looking into flying with portable oxygen concentrator as you say nhs one we have can't be used have thought of maybe just buying one depending on how many time you travel as hire is expensive. Also anyone recommend travel insurance because at the minute that's the thing stopping me.
Hi Sorry I havent been on for a long time Ive been in & out of hospital with my oxygen levels continuously dropping dangerously
I have 2 large concentrators that I am attached to 24/7 on 10 litres when moving around & 8 at rest & must check it after Ive calmed down with a veiw to turning it down to 8 litres
I also have ambulatory oxygen which I carry with me when going out & about which are medium size.
Because they empty so quickly the only places I go to are my hospital appointments & have negotiated with my GP that any appointments there that a nurse who works on behalf of them comes out particularly for blood tests , & similarly with eye tests
I can only go to hospital appointments because they will hook me up to theirs whilst I am there to save my tanks & ensure I have plenty to get home.
I have no choice but to travel to the dentist but when I explained I am on oxygen & when I enquired if they have oxygen on site & when I put in a request to be hooked up to it whilst having my check ups they refused point blank citing emergencies only. So I told them someone who is on oxygen is also an emergency & relies on tanks to breathe & if they all get used up during a lengthy appointment I could be ill but they stood firm& refused.
In my own & personal view i felt that was very mean of them & clearly have no experience on consequences of someone in my situation
