Hello I have just joined. I am a 69 year old female.
My interest is to hopefully chat and maybe, support anyone who has been diagnosed with liver disease in its many silent killer forms. A few good people stood beside me, when I was diagnosed, this changed me, because they cared, they supported me. I was faced with a terminal cancer prognosis and was in a dark place.
Then on the 30th March 2019 I was most fortunate to have a Liver Transplant. Recovery is still taking place. Jaycee
Hi Jaycee, my double liver transplants were on December 8 & 11 2012, the first graft failed and I was re-transplanted 3 days later. The bad news is that recovery took the best part of 18 months, the good news is, that with cutting out alcohol completely and continuing to pay attention to diet and exercise, I now consider myself an extremely fit and healthy 67 year old with hopefully the rest of sweet young life still ahead of me.
Enjoy your own journey, the future is bright and full of wonderful things and experiences, every day is a gift, use it well, as I try to do by managing the helpline for the liver charity Liver4Life.
I’m very happy for you that things turned out so well I have concerns I have elevated AL P levels my Gastro is new and he is extremely anal and any little flight numbers he digs in they did a fraction iced blood work and it looks like I’m still within the range in the normal side but it seems like it’s coming from my phone I had back surgery in 2014 I had it herniated disc and I still have back problems plus arthritis so I’m wondering if that could be the reason why it’s high my ALP LEVELS came out as 127. Lab Corp has level from 40 to 117. In scared!!! I pray there’s nothing wrong with my bones. Could it be The slight levels are elevated because of my back lumbar issues? I have a fatty liver so we thought it was that the fraction ice test showed that that was normal it’s just my bone fraction iced ALP levels are 65 out of 68 which is still within the range but the doctor was a little bit surprised that it wasn’t the liver that it’s more the bone I’m scared like I said I don’t know what’s wrong I pray that there’s nothing wrong I feel fine I don’t have any symptoms I do have a gallstone that they found in a CAT scan so maybe I’m wondering if that can be it can you help me and give me some information?
Hi, Jaycee also what a remarkable story glad you were able to get a transplant mine was not as urgent and was given other alternatives that pre-empted surgery of the stomach because of a fatty liver and Fibrosis and Cirrhosis caused by a lifetime of diabetes and obesity. Placed on a low carb diet and exercise to loose 125 lbs, in a year. I live on a low carb diet and fight at keeping at 30 carbs a day. I am 67 year old male. In process of a divorce, after 44 yrs of marriage, wife just informed me she was ready for her independence of her own life and not with me, so now I have new hurdles to deal with this year plus all of my past health issues. Good to be here and to meet new people. Ron
