Chocolate
Hi , i have exactly the same and i have cirrhosis too. My chocolate addiction is way out of control
I know its not good due to the sugar, sat fat etc.i have been changing my cadbury dairy milk for Maltesers.my hepatologist told me only in moderation but its soooo hard
good to know I'm not alone it's almost an addiction and the guilt is bad but it doesn't stop me going for more even though i have given myself a lecture 😔 I have heard 85% chocolate has positive affects on the liver but its not that I crave unfortunately. I am due another ultrasound soon and Iv really wanted to do my best to improve my liver so WHY can't I be adult enough to say NO ? I know I sound pathetic and I'm ashamed to be writing this but it's the truth. I hope we can both say No! If I can go without for a while I feel good and don't crave it but if I so much as have a square of someone else's it's off I go again, don't get me wrong I can't eat loads of the stuff but I shouldn't eat what I do. Iv thought is it greed, stress or whatever i tell myself go for walks, occupy myself ok but I can't do that all the time can I 😣 I make healthy meals so eat well otherwise and I am tea total and always have been, I wouldn't care the only satisfaction is eating it as it doesn't make me feel brilliant afterwards. Arrgghhh
Oh your not on your own.
There's no need to be guilty either, i know its not helping things , i have cut back.
I don't buy big bars of dairy milk now so i cant eat it of an evening . Trust me if i was told no more choclate ever i think i would cry.😭😂😂
I prefer lindt chocolate but a square of Cadburys melting in your mouth is oh so nice, but I would love to get such a buzz from a healthy food I love white crab meat in the same way but its expensive salty and goes off if not eaten immediately. .. honestly i believe that... 😝 well done on cutting down small steps is the way
I love chocolate but I eat it in moderation. Bought a bag of Easter candy today & im for sure going to enjoy some of it. Especially Hershey’s crackle & mr goodbar😊
you are very disciplined then? a small bar of cadburys or chocolate peanuts are my downfall.
Yes but it’s been hard. I gave up my blue bell. I get a couple bites of my husbands then I’m good. I may have a 3 musketeer couple times a week, sometimes none. I use sugar in my coffee so I try very hard to cut it in other areas. By no means do I have a strict diet. I gave up sweet tea for the most part except at dinner I have not even half glass. I never did like water so I use fresh squeezed lemon & I can tolerate it that way. And you know we have to keep urine clear as possible.
well I NEVER EVER touch bluebell or musketeers so I'm good like that although that's probably because I have no idea what they are 😂😂 I'm in the UK and guess you are not 😉 just wish I didn't know what Cadbury chocolate bars and chocolate peanuts are
Oh i cant do moderation.. i have tried. I even had the dark chocolate but it made me feel sick...i don't drink.dont smoke. I dont socialise that much as i have mobility issues so what other joys in life do i have ...and i am single by choice.
I have been living with cirrhosis 10yrs so.even though i am.end stage f4 fibrosis it surely cant be having such a bad effect..🤔
Hello Deni52. Just a 'by the by', bit of useless, though related, change in my own taste which may amuse you: Since starting, then stopping, hep c treatment, despite all the ill health I've suffered since, the only foods which turn me on - and which I eat together most days - are roast chicken breast (but it must be dry and overcooked), beetroot and coleslaw! That's it! Prior to the Cirrhosis and Hep C diagnoses, I would have lived on sweet foods if i could! Certainly i consumed far more sweet than savoury, though not much chocolate. Now, aside from fresh fruit, I'd give it away! I even get cravings for meat - something i rarely ate! Mind you, i supposevthis may be my body needing certsin nutrition: i have been found to be seriously deficient in Vit. D! Funny, eh? Good 🍀 Luck with the chocolate war!!!😊
I rarely eat red meat but love chicken/turkey, your craving actually sounds quite nice er apart from the chicken being dry and over cooked !! odd, yuk, but if its a positive move for you all I can say is enjoy! I have got an ultrasound tomorrow and I'm afraid they might see a few chocolate peanuts waving to them 😕😶
