My Mom is 62 years old. 5 months ago she was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome RAEB-2, developed to AML. She had multiple rounds of chemo therapy. She was scheduled to have stemcell transplant. After conditioning (immunosuppressant meds Anti-thymocyte globulin ATG and cyclosporine) she had septic shock (E. Coli) and immediately multi organ failure (kidney and liver) and right atrium fibrillation. She is intubated and was in induced coma for 48 hours by Midazolam. She’s been asleep for 6 days now. She is struggling to wakeup and I think the tube is hurting her. Did anybody go through a situation like this? .if yes How likely is it to recover from organ failure and long does it take?.

how long does take to wake up from Midazolam?. It’s just so hard seeing her struggling to wakeup. I am sp worried about her and worried that she get other infection since her immunty is very very low at this moment. Am also worried cause her toe tips is balck and they think that its most likely Gangerene they are not sure yet.

Hi Zjan, thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear your mum has been so unwell. Everyone responds differently to different drugs so it is difficult to say how your mum will react. I hope the medical team taking care of her are keeping you well informed. Sorry I can't give you more information but every individual is different so its very hard to give any specific advice. I hope that your mum's condition improves soon and don't be afraid to speak up and ask questions to her nurses and doctors.
