To sweat or not to sweat......

Hi all,

This hot weather takes my anxiety through the roof as with my Addisons Disease my body doesnt know how to cool down when I am hot and I end up a sweaty mess wherever I go.

Odd comments like , ' oh is it raining',come to mind but I cant really blame people as it looks like that.

I have tried so many things ,cold gel things in my bra, cool towels, water on the wrists, cologne on the wrists, wearing cotton the list goes on.

Please be kind to sweaty people , sometimes we can't help it 🥵.

Kim x

Oh dear, life is treating you roughly at the moment. I hope the only people who ask you if it is raining, are away from the windows so genuinely don't know.

I innocently asked if it was raining once, when a colleague arrived dripping wet. I mean, I could see from the windows it wasn't, but how did he get so wet? We worked on the 31st floor: he had taken the stairs!!!

I wish I had advice for you, but nothing but "keep your fluids up" and if you are low carb (especially if you are avoiding processed foods) add some salts to your water.

That sounds really tough. I agree with Subtle badger - plenty of liquid and enough salt - at least you can keep your health together. Sympathy is all we can offer for the rest - sorry!

I accept sympathy 😭

There are a lot of people much worse off than me. Its daft moaning really, I just dont like attention.

The Addisons specialist told me to up my salt intake which is fine with me as I crave it.

Thank you for the reply x

Awwww, I was tested for Addisons but apparently not. Cortisol levels continue to be low and flushes come and go. I have similar symptoms at times and believe it's my hormonal imbalances which are so much worse the older we get ... Not very helpful especially as my face is affected most :-|, I definitely felt better when I weighed less, so maybe there's hope ... :-)

Ha ha , maybe a glass would be a bit risky we would have to ask for mugs so we could use the handle 🤣

I guess it's easier said than done, but try not to let it get to you. Bear in mind that Addison's didn't stop JFK becoming POTUS.

Definitely make sure you get plenty of salt. Addison's will mess up your Na/K balance so dietary salt is critical.

Does the LCHF eating pattern have any effect on your symptoms generally? In theory you should experience fewer issues related to blood sugar control.

Hi Awful Toad,

Thanks for your reply and your concern. I am aiming for the LCHF diet but am still flushing my old habits away . I am trying to educate myself with it in the meantime and I have introduced seeds and full fat options.

The result so far has no effect on my Addisons but a really good effect on my hunger.

I have so much more to learn as I am a faddy, plain eater and need to expand my knowledge and skills.

Definitely, I am sure that the weight loss will help me as I am hoping 🤞to feel a little more confident as a slimmer me and ease my anxiety.

I wish you well with your weight loss.

I dont have a lot of knowledge surrounding the LCHF diet but I am here if you ever need support.
