I’ve got really bad stomach cramps today. Is this a symptom of low carb? I’m on my seventh day.

Not typically Missdoubleyou, unless you're constipated, or have diarrhoea.

It could be a reaction to the extra veggies, if you're not used to them and will likely ease off shortly. However, if the symptoms continue, or you're worried, then you should always consult your GP.

Hopefully it will go by tomorrow. I’m used to eating veggies but maybe I am just bloated!

A couple of thoughts:

I get muscle cramps, mostly in my legs. Pretty sure it's due to electrolyte imbalance (sodium, potassium and magnesium). Generally I don't experience this kind of cramp in my stomach.

Going to a noticeably higher fat diet can quite upset the digestive system (microbiome is ready for it), but I would expect that on day one not day 7.

I'd drink something like ginger or peppermint tea, and see how you feel tomorrow.

Thank you.

Never heard of that one. As mentioned above, you might simply have eaten something that doesn't agree with you in some way, or it might just be completely random! How are you feeling now? Whatever it is, hopefully it'll just go away by itself.

Hasn’t gone away yet - very annoying!

Hi Miss.

Just a bit of personal experience. If that’s ok?

I’ve had two bouts of jippy tum. Put it down to a new regime. Started LCHF about 6 weeks ago. For me I’m thinking that using coconut oil and fasting with cream coffee is the culprit. My tum lasted for just a few hours each time so not worried. Hope yours is ok now

Mine is still bad so I think I’m going to contact the doctor. Thanks for your reply.

Good call.

Sounds like it's probably something, but that something is probably nothing much. But yes, don't ignore pain.

Let us know how you get on.

Yes it’s just weird, you’d think it would either go or get worse by now.

Sorry to hear this. I hope you are a bit better now?

Yes thank you! Two days really in pain. Drank loads of water and was pretty much fully recovered by yesterday morning. I think it will remain a (painful) mystery! I don’t think it had anything to do with LCHF because I have stuck to it and I’m feeling well again 😀

That's great news. It may have been you the diet, but if so, your gut has now adapted so it shouldn't happen again.

I hope so!
