Sorry if this is a basic question on here, but how did people work out their macros? I've been reading very conflicting information on how much of everything g I should be eating, and I'm starving all the time so cant be getting it right!

Hi Laura. There is a free app that I use called carb manager. You put in the food you are eating and it works out your macros for you. Good luck! 😊

There is very little need to calculate your macros on LCHF. If you stick to green leafy veg, add some fat, and avoid starchy carbs, you're almost guaranteed to get it right. There are a few "grey area" foods - such as milk or carrots - and you simply need to remember to eat those in moderation. Even in the induction phase, most people can get away with not counting carbs. Just use the visual guide on Diet Doctor:

The main problem with trying to measure everything is that it isn't physically possible. Despite your best efforts, there will be a very wide margin of error. This is actually one of the main reasons calorie-counting is pointless.

If you're hungry ... eat more! A fundamental aim of low-carb is to get you listening to your body again.

Cheers!

Like The Toad says, getting all wound up about counting numbers isn't really necessary. The big deal is pulling away from processed foods, grains and starchy vegetables, and increasing natural fats. It can be complicated, but it doesn't have to be.

I like to use a cronometer to monitor micro nutrients (nutritional deficiencies) , macro percentages just come as a bonus.
