Newbie to LCHF - feeling exhausted- is this normal???

Hello, after restarting here 2 weeks ago, in my second week, inspired by Binky68 I started LCHF and 16:8 fasting.

Today, however, I have just slept nearly the whole afternoon and feel a bit low... is this normal?

I read that some people feel flu like after a few days- does it stop quickly?

I’m a teacher in half term right now- actually supposed to be preparing for a full on interview on Tuesday but I’ve got zero energy and mojo.

Any tips please?

Well done for starting RedUnicorn! I am in no way an expert on lchf but have been doing it for just over 3 weeks and on about day 8, after feeling fine, I crashed. Felt so ill, had to stay in bed all day. Headache and sick and no energy. Couldn’t do anything, not even drink. But it only lasted about 32 hours then felt ok again. Very strange but it was short lived at that intensity. I guess everyone’s body reacts differently possibly according to how carby your diet was before undertaking it and how strict you are with the lchf diet. Also make sure you are having enough fat as low carb and low fat can make you feel rubbish! I’m sure there are more expert opinions here than mine, but I personally don’t regret starting this, and feel good now as a result. Good luck !

Thanks JT489 , I’m a week in so that makes sense. Hopefully I’ll pick up for Monday when I’m back to school!

Feeling like this passes VERY soon. I did a fasting/low carb thing on a daily basis for 3 weeks.

I cycled to most of the Wetherspoons in Liverpool and had a Traditional Breakfast - around 900 calories (everything on the menu is calorie counted). Substituting the hash browns for a sausage, whilst keeping the beans and the buttered toast.

The shut off for breakfast is 12 noon, so I'd arrive at 11.45. That was my only meal of the day.

Never felt hungry, vapid, weak nor deprived and lost half a stone.

Hi RedUnicorn, nice to meet you on here. I've only just discovered the low carb way of eating, inspired mainly by the 'Truth about ... carbs' tv programme on iPlayer that was mentioned in another forum. As someone teetering on the edge of diabetes it seems like a good move (having started reading through another link referred to by others on the losing weight forum. (phcuk.org/wp-content/upload.... - sorry I don't know how to do a link!

I haven't hit any kind of slump yet, but I'm not being overly strict either. Have definitely had to move my belt in a couple of notches though!

Looking forward to following your progress and we head onwards and downwards together. x

When you start a lchf diet you are avoiding processed foods most foods of that type contain quite a bit of salt as we all know having to much salt in your diet is bad for you but also not enough salt is bad for you and 1 of the symptoms can be tiredness. So I suggest you have some extra salt in your diet I have a bullion drink. Way back in history a tribesman in Africa would give an explorer gold for a block of salt! Good Luck.
