IgA Nephropathy help

Hi,

I’m new to the group ,and wanted to try and get in contact with other people in the same situation.

I went to see my doctor after feeling totally depressed and exhausted ,he took a urine test as well as a blood test and found protein and blood in my urine,I was referred to the renal clinic where I spoke to a consultant, he told me the protein count in my urine was one of the highest he had seen and arranged for me to have a biopsy.

After having a biopsy on my kidneys I was told by the consultant I had IgA Nephropathy .

Since then I have been on blood pressure tablets and beta blockers

Recently I have been having what I can only describe as panic/anxiety attacks. work colleagues have seen a change in me too eg forgetfulness and fatigue

Has anyone on the group experienced anything similar?

I am also overweight and need to go on a diet any help on foods /recipes would be appreciated

My brother has the same disease and been able to improve both his kidney filtration (from 26% to 30%) and his creatine (from 256 to 200). He accomplished this by intermittent food fasting (while drinking water) and by avoding gluten containing food. Local doctore here in Canada are perplex since the type of Iga Nephropathy he has is not supposed to get better.

Furthermore, the intermittent fasting has made loose extra weight he needed to lose :)

Hi,

Me again, my brother is now at 34% kidney functions and creatine has also improved. OK...I think we know what's the problem with IgA Nephropathy, it's the gut not the kidneys. You need to eliminate GLUTEN and limit proteins and dairy products (specially no milk). Here i'm going to give you some of the medical research that led me to put my brother on this diet and see these improvements.

-Here is a study from the University of Pisa (from 1993) where the doctors were able to reverse IgA Nephropathy by only changing their patients diet (this study points to substances crossing the mucosal barrier of the gut)

-Also a nice article about Walter Kempner, MD – Founder of the Rice Diet, he was treating people with Kidneys and other disease by putting them on a diet of white rice, fruit, juice, and sugar. I think his diet worked because thankfully it did eliminate gluten and dairy product from his patients.

To conclude, my brother on top of removing Gluten and dairy product is now following this protocol for actually tackling the real issue ...experiencelife.com/article/...

All the best :)
