Controlling stress

I'm new and it's clear by everything I've read that controlling stress when you receive a cancer diagnosis is very important. I have stomach pains and headaches that started after receiving the diagnosis, and am sure they're the result of anxiety and stress. What I don't know is, how to get it under control. I'm doing yoga, deep breathing, drinking ginger tea, walking, trying to act normal and lead my regular life. If anyone has any other tips, I'd love to hear them.

I remember those days. For several weeks afterwards, I remember thinking about cancer all the time. Later I went through surgery and they said everything was great. It did not bother me until a year later they found it had spread. After getting the news that it was stage IV, I was devastated. I went back into my old routine which helped take care of most of the stress. I am also a very positive person and believed that everything would work out. I started to go to church and that helped me along with support from family and friends. I also started volunteering at various places and that made me feel good as well. This worked for me, I suspect that you will find what works for you. Don't spend too much time researching about your cancer, it will just remind you of what is going on. You have to stay informed, just don't obsess about it. Hope this helps and good luck.

Things are going Great! I am the poster boy for what works in fighting cancer. I have been in remission for the past three years. It is still on my mind on occasions but it does not rule my life. I still get a little scan anxiety but other than that, life is good.

Wow....I never knew you can be stage 4 and then go into remission. What stage and grade were you originally?

You have to breathe. Take steps back. Sometimes be alone to gather yourself.
