We want to hear your experiences of accessing support
ARMA has launched the first ever national inquiry into inequalities in musculoskeletal* health. The inquiry will focus on people living in areas of deprivation - areas where there is high unemployment, incomes are lower than the national average, or there is little access to shops, health services or good housing. We know that people living in deprived areas have more musculoskeletal problems but find it harder to get access to good quality treatment. ARMA believes that this inequality is unacceptable and that services need to change to make access more equal.
The inquiry aims to:
• Identify the evidence for inequalities in musculoskeletal health related to deprivation and explore the possible underlying reasons.
• Propose actions which can be taken to address these and raise the profile of the issues and possible solutions.
We are keen to hear from people who live with musculoskeletal conditions or are parents how look after a child with these conditions inculding JIA, about any issues they have in accessing support or services for their musculoskeletal condition. We are particularly keen to hear from people who live in areas:
• where there is high unemployment;
• where incomes are significantly lower than the national average;
• with little access to shops, health services or good housing.
* Musculoskeletal conditions include everything that affects bones, joints or muscles. For example, back pain and all forms of arthritis such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as conditions like gout, fibromyalgia, Axial Spondyloarthritis, hypermobility syndromes, scleroderma, Raynaud's, etc.
