Side effects of eltrombopag

Hi any info on eltrombopag would be much appreciated, side effects experienced. My 22 year old daughter starting to try and stabilise and increase her platelet count. So many drugs have been tried on her so far and not much success. Any info would be greatly appreciated . Thanks

Hi lindylou45, Sorry I cant answer your question, but I am glad you asked it because I too may be going on to eltrombopag if my current medication does not work. I will be interested in finding out what the side effects are. What other treatments has your daughter tried? NickyD

hi my daughter has been on various treatments, prednisolone, rutiximab, vincristine, romiplostin, IV immunolglobulin and platelets to name only a few. Her count seemed to increase and stabilise on the highest dose of romiplostin but after a short stay in hopsital in the last few days it has been decided to try eltrombopag as she seemed to be taking a reaction to the romiplostin. Unsure if this will keep her count stabile, are getting another count today. Your ITP from what I have read seems very similar to my daughters as her platelets are being destroyed by her liver and not her spleen, we know this as she has been for a radioisotopic scan, have you been for that. It may help.
