Did most of you attend the virtual iTP Conference last week end? It was very informative.

Yes. It was terrific. I learned a great deal. Didn’t know that there were 2 types of IT P; thrombotic and/or bleeding. Does the British organization have a virtual conference and when?

I have a huge ‘bruise’ that takes up about 3/4 lengthwise and more than 1/2 around my forearm. Does anyone have such large bleeds? And does anyone know what it signifies? I’ve never had one so large before.

Thanks,

Frankie

Hi Frankie

I don’t want to alarm you, as we are all different, and I don’t tend to have any bleeding symptoms at all until my count is very low. However, I only get large bruises like that when my count is extremely low. It might be sensible to get your count checked. You could also check inside your mouth for blood blisters as they are another sure sign for me that my count has dropped below 10.

Hopefully it might just be that you’ve bumped your arm without realising it. I would always prefer to get a blood test to be on the safe side though.

Kind regards

Janet

Thanks Janet,

I just had a blood test and will look up the results. Thanks for reminding me. It started, as many of mine do, as a sore purpely lump that slowly spreads as the lump goes down. I've never had such a large one before.

I get lots of bruises

I assume if you watched the conference, you are in touch with a hematologist. Do you get regular CBC’s?

I do. I live on Vancouver Island and my hematologist comes over from Vancouver once a week. His patients present all sorts of blood disorders. I know of two who have leukemia. I don't know how well acquainted he is with ITP having once told me my "bruises" were just that.

Having been along to past events I can confirm that they are well worth attending. Very informative, and a great way to learn about all the latest ITP developments from some of the leading ITP experts. It is also a great forum to share experiences with other folk living with ITP.

Best wishes

Anthony
