I went back to the Haemotologist for the second week yesterday since this last post:

healthunlocked.com/itpsuppo...

I'm happy to report that my count has been slowly going in the right direction, 24 last week then 34 this week which is a new high for me. While there is an increase they are happy to continue tapering off the prednisolone and not start any new drugs which works for me.

As for the prednisolone... I've so far had the following daily dose each week since the start

40mg, 80mg, 80mg, 80mg, 60mg, 50mg, 40mg

And I'm starting on 30mg this next week.

In the last two weeks since coming down to 50mg and 40mg I am SO HUNGRY, I didn't understand how hard it is not to eat, but I am still sticking to the specific carbohydrate diet, so it's just fruit, veg, etc otherwise the weight would be piling on at this point. I'm really looking forward to getting over the hunger stage though

Mike

Well done Mike. I had similar reaction (to pred. and to food!!). My platelets also kept rising at extremely low and no levels of pred. due to the kick start the drugs gave my body. Hope you keep rising!!

Well done Mike, great news. Your story sounds familiar, I also found myself eating far too much whilst on the steroids. Please do check out my ITP blog to read what happened to me with Prednisolone especially all the side effects, and my other treatments...
