The simple answer is NO. Having the spleen removed might solve the issue of low platelet count but it is no guarantee unfortunately. Platelets can also be destroyed by the liver so if you have the spleen removed and it is your liver that is destroying your plates then obviously it will not help. It's a gamble, can work temporarily, can work for an extended period, could be partially successful, maybe doesn't have any effect at all.
As Anthony points out your liver can also remove platelets and apparently other parts of your body can join in the fun also. I am partially successful at the moment (1 year after op).
It's better than not successful
