Hey guys I've written here a couple times,I was in icu in 2022 seriously ill with double pneumonia, I was put into an induced coma to save my life, as we've all spoken about here icu delirium is horrendous and scary but there was one calming moment I remembered and it was hearing music, I mentioned it to a few people and they thought I imagined it. A few months after leaving hospital I had a video call with the icu psychologist again I mentioned the music being so vivid and she did confirm that they do have a cello player who goes in to play to patients and then my sister did remember somebody packing up an instrument as she came in to visit me. Fast forward couple years and I have a friend who attends a group for wellness with a cello player so I wondered if it could be the same one and it turns out it is! I attended a couple of the groups but it wasn't until a few days ago we met for a coffee to discuss the experience from both our perspectives, it's a rare thing that she would ever meet anyone she played too and sadly some of the patients don't survive but I wanted to thank her so much for giving me a bit of light when I was in the darkest period of my life. I'm honoured to have met her and am forever grateful.

That’s a lovely thing to have happened.

Delirium is a weird one - 20% of ICU patients don’t experience delirium.

Of the 80% that do, some only have benign. Some only have horrendous delirium and many have a mixture of both - I fell into this bracket. I wonder if the benign delusions save our sanity? 😊

The hospital I was in had a violinist come round every Tuesday. I vaguely recall hearing it towards the end of my ICU stay but they also came to the wards so I was able to ask them to play things which was amazing. My husband and I both have amazing memories of those visits.
