I have a question about my mother icu condition. after cardiac arrest she was responding and they did some type of thematic hyperthermia treatment where they froze her for almost two days and gave her a heavy dose of propofol something like that and when time tom to lower the dose she have the shakes chill so bad that they have to give her more prof sedation to get her to stop shaking and now they can take the sedation down or she will shake, it's been a week and not all the meds is messing with her kidneys today they had to put a stent in her. can anybody help [e-mail]

Therapeutic hypothermia is a type of treatment. It’s sometimes used for people who have had a cardiac arrest. Healthcare staff use cooling devices to lower the body temperature for a short time. It’s lowered to around 89°F to 93°F (32°C to 34°C). The treatment usually lasts about 24 hours. Those patients shivering after therapeutic hypothermia are more like to have a good neurologic outcome. So the shaking your mum is experiencing may actually be shivering and possibly a good sign.

its been over a week and all the meds starting to mess with her kidneys and they had to put a stent in her neck and they just keep running eeg, and mri and catscan over and over as if she didnt do the hypothermia treatment.
