My Brother suffered a sever asthma attack had seizure went unresponsive unknown how long he had cpr done suffered cardiac arrest an a heart attack This resulted in hypoxic brain injury from lack of oxygen to the brain and ischemic stroke from lack of blood flow. He was put in an induced coma, was heavy sedated on phytanoyl an suffering from a drug addiction withdraw so he was having seizures nonstop the mri said he had a healthy brain stem but no white blood cells they said he was braindead no chance for life to end life care or put him in a nursing home but i said no we have 3 days to find a place for care and he has responded with face movement when asked questions he squeezes hand and he can get himself comfortable like moving back and forth an making a face he can react to light in his eyes he can cry tears but DR. said that's the process of death? What can we do to get him second opion and what do we do for him if we have to follow there rules we cannot even transfer to a bigger more advance care hospital he is breathing on his own also.

in U.K. you can request a second opinion but the team are not obliged to grant your request - I dont know how you stand in USA

if you are in the U.S. you can reach out to very large church organizations and if they have a hospital committee. You might find folks that know answers to your questions and offer directions. Regardless of what doctors say a person in a coma is still in there albeit highly sedated. I died twice and recovering from a sepsis coma. They said I would never get out of ICU. I had to learn to walk, talk, breathe without a ventilator. I am able to drive and do everything myself. Find others who have gone thru this. Never give up!
