I am 20 years old and was in the ICU for over a week while on deployment and was later diagnosed with neuropathy and have been taking gabapentin for about 4 months. I was wondering if you ever experience numbness or very hot legs and feet while laying down. It has been very uncomfortable and difficult to fall asleep. I’ve noticed it has gotten worse this last month and want to know if anyone is experiencing this also.

Neuropathy pain
Have you had you bloods checked for mineral & vitamin deficiency since being in ICU? I discovered I was lacking magnesium - which I know take daily - this had alleviated cramping & restless legs for me. If it’s neuropathy in your case - it takes time to improve ( in some cases, there is little improvement, unfortunately). Why not speak to your GP & get checked out?
Do you mean do we experience that as a result of the gaba, or from the neuropathy? The sensation you’re describing is definitely neuropathy - I’ve had peripheral neuropathy for a number of years. Drugs like gabapentin should help ease some of the discomfort for most people (I am unfortunately not one of those people!). It’s a real debilitating pain and I empathise totally. When my peripheral neuropathy was at its worst, it was exactly as you described - it hurt too much to have a sheet on my feet in bed to sleep. The pain at its climax is crazy. In my case it has never gone away but my body has acclimated to it somewhat. You should definitely check out if you can get your meds adjusted though to help with the pain. Wishing you lots of good luck x
