I am recruiting for a study aimed at understanding patient experiences of ICU and recovery.
My name is Syed Shahzar Ahmed and I am a Master's student of Medical Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. I work with the Health Experiences Research Group at the University of Oxford. I want to tell you why the research is being done, and what you can expect if you do take part. Please read what I have to say carefully. Talk about it with friends, relatives and your GP if you wish. Ask me if you have any other questions. Please take as much time as you like to decide.
Thanks for reading this:
The aim of our research programme is to improve understanding of people’s experiences of health, illness and healthcare, and provide resources to support people living with a wide variety of health conditions, their families, friends and the health professionals involved in their care. The principal topic of research focuses on the disruption of lifeworlds and social roles during periods of care at home, at least five months out of the ICU, followed by parallel questions whose answers will be generated from the data during analysis:
How are the lifeworlds and social roles of patients and family members affected by the sudden increased need for care within the home post-ICU discharge?
1.How do family members feel regarding changes to their lifeworlds as a result of the role of home-care giver?
2.How do Pakistani COVID patients and their family members enact recovery care in the home post ICU-discharge?
Do let me know if you would like to participate or would like further information. I can reached at SyedA397@gmail.com or you can reach out to my supervisor from her information below.
Thank you so much!
