My mother had a hernia surgery in india on Jan 2 and she travelled with me to USA on Jan 20th and she got into Ecoli infection in abdomen area which we didnt aware of .On the Jan 24 th night we have admiited her to emergency as she was short of breath and then only we realised that there is an infection on her abdomen. On Feb 4th morning she was out of ventilator and from yesterday evening shes having the liquid diet. Now shes recognising us slowly and she still thinking that shes in India. And she s struggling to recollect the memories. She can name mine and my elder brother correctly and she rembers my dads demise. Am worrying about her now. Will she be alright in memory wise. Shes able to talk and sit now (with a help). Am staying with her in hospital during the nights.
Thanks

Your mum has been through a lot. Itis not unusual for people who have been ventiated in ICU to suffer from delerium and confusion for a while. It is asa result of the drugs which have been administered. Hopefully her condition will gradually improve. Healing thoughts to your mum.
Thank you madam for your kind words . Today afternoon my mum has been moved to normal ward room . She has been running with fever for the past three days and doctors are waiting for the culture test result . Hopefully they find out the reason for fever and fix it permanently. Right now doctor is giving tyleanol for every 5 to 6 hours and it's fixing the fever now.
