How can it be that people have low platelets and APS "sticky blood"? It seems counter-intuitive, can someone explain? Thx:)

Hi Dagen

I researched this when writing the HSF website and it is indeed a paradox - please read:

hughes-syndrome.org/about-h... under the Low Platelet heading.

It is not common but certainly does happen in a number of cases.

Hi Dagon, I have had ITP (for 10 years) and after a recent blood test have been told by my specialist that I may have APS and it will not be easy to treat. Am waiting to go into hospital to have antibodies to raise the platelet count so that I can be treated for the APS which seems counter productive. I had a TIA a year ago and all scans were clear but deep inside I knew I wasn't right - memory wise and balance - so this recent diagnosis may be right. If you have been treated for both please let me know how you got on x
