Has anyone been dprescribed this? Was told to try incase warfarin gave me extreme coldness - would be truly grateful

Acenocumarol = sintrom in Spain. Here we take that instead of warfarin. What would you like to know??

It used to be used more widely but it was recognised by most places as not being able to give as stable an INR as warfarin so almost everywhere switched except for here in Spain. That was changed a few years ago where some areas of Spain started using warfarin as the standard as it is cheaper to have people tested less frequently and more stable, here in Madrid I had to get an exception to use Warfarin.

Sintrom does work for those who have issues with Warfarin as an alternative before going the heparin route but I know that in the UK it is almost impossible to get sintrom and many doctors there are wary of it.

So my answer is consider it without any problem but ensure that it is easy to get a supply and know that the chances are your INR will be less stable than it might be with warfarin. (And yes, I know that a lot of APSers on Warfarin find their INR is hard to get stable but my experience and talking to experts both here and in the UK have shown me that it is still better than Sintrom.)

It is used as an alternative to warfarin in the UK too, if the patient is allergic or intolerant to warfarin.

I have only tried sintrom (they mentioned to change it into warfarin because of my hair loss), but only mentioned it. 6 months later I'm still on sintrom...

I am o n sintrom as I am intolerant to warfarin apart from one supply issue problem in the last year the drug has keep me within my safe set inr range.
