Hello there. Sorry things are so stressful for you, It sounds as if you really have made up your mind, and presumably this is the way you want to go. I can imagine this feels very difficult. I know from my own experiences, at 46 with my family complete some 13 years back, that I certainly did not wish the risk of being pregnant, however I do understand the medical stance on not performing this operation on a woman who is still pretty young. However If you keep firmly pushing, with you disease profile fully in their minds, at some point, I am sure they will relent, but it will not be a swift decision.. I eventually decided to live with it, Maybe others on here have some realistic lines for you to go down. MaryF. I hope your doctor has a good ear for you!

Hi Rachel,

Im surprised you have to ask to be sterilised after all you have been through- and so lucky to have 2 lovely girls ;-) but as you say it defo sounds not in your or any future babies interest to attempt pregnancy given your history... i was sterilised at 26 after i had clots on the brain during and after pregnancy my daughter was born at 30 wks but then they were very keen to sterilise me to take away that risk as i was told like you it could have been life threatening...it was not the GP that suggested it in my case but then i was under neurologist who did. Which specialism are you under? hope u get it sorted soon as it certainly takes away any risks and i think you are acting very sensibly in this difficult decision. Good luck love kathy xxx

I don't know if you have already done this but ask your Haematologist to talk to your Gynecologist.

What were you on when your were pregnant ? heparin and Asprin. Do the implants effect blood clotting.

I think it is totally wrong not to to let you hve the Op it is your life. Try putting it in writing I think that sometimes makes a difference go to the top. I know how scarry it feels when you know what can go wrong

Love Karen xx

Steralization can in itself present a dangerous scenerio! There is hormone replacement therapy that comes with that procedure. I had an uteran ablation done 8 years ago. There are two methods, freezing or burning the lining of the uterus to prevent any mensus from lining the uterus to present a cycle. It was said to be good up to 5 years, the hope was to get me close to menapause. Well it has been 8 years and have been cycle free

I am not aware that the routine proceedure for laprascopic sterilisation (That of pegging or tying off the fallopian tubes) involves any hormone replacement.

I agree with Karen it should be your decision. A friend of mine wanted to be sterilised young and although she was unable to get the proceedure on the NHS she was offered it privately. My cousin was also able to get a vasectomy (under the usual age limit) privately.

I am sure you will make the right choice
