Lupus Anticoagulant query-part 3!

Several of you were helpful enough to comment on my previous posts, where my rheum had dismissed by two positive LA results, as I don’t have a history of clotting. I do have a history of extreme fatigue, increasingly bad headaches, eye problems, skin rashes, Yada yada yada.

Anyway, long story short I saw the very lovely Dr Jordan at London Bridge for a second opinion, who did a load of bloods again including Anti-b glycoprotein igg and igm and anti-cardiolipin antibody. I saw her today for follow up, and wouldn’t you know it, the three antibodies all came back negative.

But, she didn’t dismiss APS- she explained the antibodies can come and go. Because my inflammatory markers are raised (crp and esr) and I had two previous positive LA, she wants to do a brain MRI to check for white matter changes, and I’m having 2 weeks of prednisolone. I’ll see her again in a month.

She gave me copies of my blood results, and I did notice my prothrombin time is a bit low -11.5 (ref range 12-15) and my fibrinogen is a bit high-4.8 (ref range 2.0-4.5). She didn’t comment on it though.

Anyway! That’s all for now. I’ll update again in a month and report back whether they found a brain in my head or not! 😂

Thank you for alerting us to your progress, just because the antibodies are currently 'not appearing' does not mean they will not again, especially with your history and symptoms, blood tests are not everything, only part of the picture. Thank you for updating us on here. MaryF

Hi, thanks for keeping us in the loop.

I hope the trial of prednisone relieves your symptoms.

Take care

Haha!

( she’s my doctor, also!)

She’s lovely. I have lots of fun with her Irish accent. The Texan and the Irish ladies with their accents!

I told her my first symptom with my first dvt was a ,” Charlie Horse.”

She was completely confused...

So was I....

I’ll just let you google that...

That’s how my first appointment with her started. It’s been just ,” grand” ever since! She is fantastic.
