I am curious how many, if any, are diagnosed with both factor V leiden and Hughes Syndrome? Is there a common "co-diagnosis"?

I have both.

Factor V Leidon is an inherited disorder Hughes is not meant to be hereditary but can occur in several members of a family.

I have both and have just been diagnosed with low platelets and am currently dealing with that. Both Hughes and low platelets are auto-immune and I'm trying to figure out why my immune system went haywire. Thinking more it's related to food allergies.

Thrombocytopenia ("low platelets") is a common manifestation of APS...it is not a separate problem

Hi PamZ

Yes, I was diagnosed with both 4 months ago. There is not a common diagnosis. After a history of DVT in my legs--the last time I had DVT in three deep veins in same leg, treated on warfarin for 4 mths, then was sent to a hematologist. He tested for many clotting factors, (drew 16 vials of blood)--they are 2 separate conditions--it just so happens that I tested for both. Per my doctor, Factor V Leiden is an inherited mutation of the gene, but APS is acquired, and no known cause. There are actually 2 different blood tests for both of these. I am now on warfarin for life--When were you diagnosed, and were you put on warfarin? Have other family members been tested for Factor V Leiden?
