unstable inr. started mini pill 1st j... - Hughes Syndrome A...
unstable inr. started mini pill 1st jan,my inr shot up tp 6!!then dropped to 2.4,stopped minimill after 3 wks and still struggling.
Hi awful when your INR is unstable do you check it yourself, I think it is very unusual to have to stop taking Warfarin for 2days
1 maybe. Hopefully it will soon become more stable, who decides what warfarin dose you should be on, not sure about the mini pill, if my INR goes that low, too low I have Clexane injections to give myself until in range, remember it takes a couple of days for the warfarin to work. I would speak to the clinic or who ever treats you,
hi,thanx for your reply.i have inr checked at drs surgery,i can't check myself.it went high 4wks ago,and missed 1 dose only and it dropped drastically,so i was slightly concerned when told to miss 2 doses.i did ask at last test on monday if i should have fragmin injections until it comes up but said no.my gp phoned my consultant haematologist and she agreed with her,so been feeling poo all week and bodies been cramping every minute of the day.i wear my compression stockings to help but am really worried about why it won't stabilise.iv been on warfarin 4 years and had heparin/fragmin injections for 1and 1/2 years before that.hoping todays result is somewhere near normal, will let you know!!
I was taken off the pill as it was causing complications with clotting. I now have the coil fitted. May be worth speaking to your GP about other options if the pill is causing problems!
Gosh I am surprised i think I would phone your surgery and tell them how awful you feel and that you are concerned about your INR hopefully they will agree to testing it again tomorrow
hope they do so you can be reassured.
Why did they put you on Warfarin, did you have a blood clotting event ?
Hi
When my INR was 6.5 once I missed just one dose and that reduced it to 3.3, which took it below my range of 3.5 to 4.5. I was lucky that I was self testing and self managing and was able to get my INR settled down again.
You should certainly try to insist on being tested frequently until you are back in range and stable and you should also ask them to prescribe some Fragmin injections to protect you until you are back in range.
Good luck and keep us informed.
Best wishes
