Hi I'm 33 years old I've dealt with HS since I was 7 years old my affected areas are my armpits under my breast my groin area and my inner thighs I am currently on accutane and pain meds but as growing up I've tried so many different medications and even consider skin grafts I've been on accutane for a little over 5 months in the beginning it drew everything out and put me in serious pain and now I'm dealing with severe dry skin my lips and my upper eyelids and also hair loss which is side effects of accutane so today I'm going to see my dermatologist and I'm going to recommend a different medication that is FDA-approved for hidradenitis suppurativa which is called HUMIRA I'm crossing my fingers that I qualify to try this medication

A little about me
I am worried for you. I took acutane for a long time in the eighties. Since then, I have a son born with KTS(severe birth defect), the beginnings of a lifetime of mental health issues and more. I eventually went sideways on the acutane. Any vitamin A after that would trigger me mentally. I am now legally disabled due to severe mental health issues that don't run in my family. KTS has never been in my family either.
I have been using Humira for the last 8 month and I honestly say as far as HS, I have found a miracle. I have been noticing a few things latley though that have me concerned. My weight gain has been unsettling. I have gained in the stomach which was already too large and my thighs. All injection site. I had noticed a swelling in my feet but I just put it on too much salt. I recently read that this might be due to the Humira also. There is a tingling sensation in my legs. Even with these things happening, I am still grateful to 8 months without a break out. I wish you luck! I hope you qualify. It is life changing!
