PVC’s and Bigeminy

So I stopped my bisopropol and my breathing issues have really subsided I feel so relieved! I was told to take it as a pill in the pocket but find whenever I’m having a bad day of bigeminy runs or single pvcs they come on even more regularly if I take a bisopropol - does anyone else experience this? Just lately I’m back to being woken up in the night with bigeminy runs, they last for about 20 seconds and disappear otherwise I am in NSR or Sinus Arrythmia (my heart rate synchronises with my breathing pattern) I have this recorded on my Apple Watch. I get maybe 6 of the 20 second runs in total on a bad day. Does anyone have bigeminy that comes and goes like this? I am pushing for another holter to try and capture these runs as previously very little was found on my holter - but as for coping techniques I’m really struggling. I’m doing 30 mins of exercise everyday and drinking so much water and both seem to be making them a little worse? Although when I’m exercising I don’t get any at all.

I’m just having a hard time, I don’t know how dr’s can say the burden needs to sit between 10-20,000 before surgery is provided 1 to me the thought of that is nearly enough to sink me into a deep depression.

I’m trying to stay positive and smile alot! I just feel like I’m doing all the right things but to no avail it’s so disheartening, I used to be able to go days in between having any and maybe just get 1 or 2 on occasional days but them stepping up a notch has scared me tremendously although in reality I get very few and I’m not symptomatic - just need to blog and vent!

Interesting you saying the Bisoprolol makes them worse, I am convinced this is the case for me as well. I have always had PVC's but rarely and only with anxiety, after ending up in A&E with a hypertensive crisis a couple of years ago a subsequent holter recored a small run of NSVT my consultant put me on 10mg Bisoprolol and reduced to 7.5mg as I was getting horrendous PVC's, Bigeminy and couplets. My latest cardiologist has just dropped me to 5mg after me mentioning they were worse since taking Bisoprolol. He didn't say or explain anything just said, that dose didn't appear to be helping?

I'm convinced they make them worse and not better? So interesting you say the same.

I am taking a large dose of Magnesium Taurate daily and that seems to help, whether placebo or not I don't know!

Is there a particular brand of Magnesium that you recommend? I’ve been trying to research and find so much conflicting information about each brand that I end up just feeling overwhelmed!

Yes I do agree! I think because the beta blocker slows the heart it gives them more chance to creep through - for me anyway, j think that why I’m also more affected in the evening or when I’m sleeping.

Thank you for taking them time to message, wishing you all the best x

My pvcs are caused, at least most of the time, by swallowing air. I have cut out all fizzy drinks and take care drinking hot drinks as it is easy to swallow air to cool each sip. Take care not to gulp air with water. I try to burp regularly to relieve pressure.

I definitely think there is credibility to what you have said, I find that I’m having an anxious disposition I do often hold my breath or ‘over breathe’ I do find a good burp always helps if I’m having a bout of ectopics. Thank you for your message.

I can relate and take Propranolol 80mg ER daily. I have to say that mine really increased following an ablation for SVT, and in my case, they are absolutely caused by stress and overeating. What has worked best for me (after my cardiologist reassuring me they were harmless) was to just accept them as a quirk of how my body responds to stress. When they get frequent I know I've been pushing myself too hard or worrying too much, and I dial it back for awhile. Accepting them has reduced my fear and obsession, but I do know how upsetting they are. I've been in the ER more times than I can even count.

Thank you so much for your message. I can lay in bed and fully know that they aren’t going to kill me but trying to sleep when my body is constantly waking me up with them is so exhausting. It’s awful that yours got worse after an ablation! I think you have some great advice in there, maybe I could be kinder to myself and my body when it’s trying to tell me something isn’t quite right instead of getting frustrated with it and expecting a magical cure.
