Echocardiogram results...a likely problem?

Hello everyone. Yesterday I had a letter about the results of my echocardiogram. I would like to share what was written because I don't know how to feel about it and maybe someone who has had similar results can shed some insight on what it means. "Limited echo images were available due to poor windows. The impression was of good biventricular systolic function and very mild mitral and tricuspid regurgitation was seen but otherwise, there were no other abnormalities." I am now waiting to hear back from him about the 72 ECG results. My thoughts are that the mitral and tricuspid regurgitation could be the reason for my symptoms (pounding heart during any exercise, palpitations, tiredness, dizziness.) but I am not sure. It's all very overwhelming and a new experience for me. If anyone can share their thoughts I would be happy to hear them :)

If its any help to you, very many of us have mild mitral and/or tricuspid regurgitation on our echo reports so I wouldn't worry unduly , particularly as yours has been classed as very mild.

So they actually found nothing then?

Mild regurgitation is a pretty common (normal) finding and usually not important, I have moderate regurgitation and my Cardios are not worried about it.

Okay well now that I know that I am pretty disappointed that nothing has been found. :( I was hoping for a small answer on the scan

Unfortunately unless we have something major and glaringly obvious wrong a lot of tests are inconclusive, it took 6 years and literally dozens of different tests to identify my problems, it's a hard slog !

I actually thought I had an answer...i'm not going to lie I'm really struggling to come to terms with that

Wait and see what your other results are before giving up and if you still have the symptoms you just have to keep on trying to find out why. Most of us have been in the same situation so know what it's like.

I think I understand your feelings here. Are you new to all this? I can't see any previous posts. You want a definite answer for your symptoms. Have you been told you have A Fib ?

Take a look at Sanjay Guptas 2 videos on echo reports on You Tube. Excellent.

Limited echo images can be due to poor echocardiography window due to obesity, fat pad or hyperinflated lungs.

Mild regurgitation is common especially as we get older and our valves get stiff and worn. Mild regurgitation wouldn’t leave you symptomatic.

Make sure someone checks your thyroid. You may also want to look into dysautonomia. Are you diabetic by any chance?

It's unlikely the "very mild regurgitation" of the valves alone to be causing your symptoms. This is a very common finding and it is not much of a concern, at least not at this point. The good news is that you have a structurally healthy heart. Whatever is causing your palpitations is likely nothing serious. Cheers
