Is anyone on Amiodarone (CardaroneX) ?If so,what side effects if any?

I was on it for two periods which probably totalled around a year. It damaged my thyroid, made it under-active. I'll now have to take pills for life to rectify that.

At a meeting of AF sufferers out of 20 people 3 had suffered the same way with Amiodarone.

Thank you and that is exactly what it states in common side effects.I have a prescription for it having said I would go on it but had already changed my mind by what is on NHS website.

Will try for time being to stay on Bisoprolol.

Flecainide is a better option and works for a lot of people.

Some people can tolerate Amiodarone and the related Dronedarone. Other people have a range of issues including thyroid, cataracts, sun sensitivity, liver, and in my case pulmonary toxicity when I had to refuse to be sedated and put in Intensive Care on a respirator (I was later told that I had been close to death). As you might imagine, I don't have a good word to say about either drug!
