Immediate release or modified release what works better??

My dr wants me to swap to verapamil but I’ve got immediate release and modified release what would be better? I’m unsure I take modified release diltiazem at the moment.

I take extended release every night and it has controlled my CAS and eliminated my monthly migraines as well! Wishing you well!
