Anyone, Anything Similar....?

Hey guys

Just curious if anyone has anything similar.....

About a year ago I was getting mild localised chest discomfort (13 weeks training for a new job, this occurred near the end)

A month following this I got about 2 weeks of on and off pauses during my heart rate, on my fitness app my heart rate would be at 80’s at rest and then would drop to about 60’s for about 3/4 seconds then jump back up to 80’s. This cycle would last for about an hour then just disappear. This occurred about 4/5 times within 2 week period.

I had an ECG an Echo following this which revealed my heart was ‘normal’ etc. I had a 24 hour monitor which also revealed my heart was normal with occasional dropped beats.

Fast forward a year and my exercise ability appears to be decreased, quite puffed if I go upstairs, if I talk quickly or strain I struggle to catch breath. I am 20 stone and 6 feet in height and a 34 year old male.

I still suffer with flutters occasionally, I don’t get dizzy or pass out but occasional get a twinge in centre of chest or if I move in a certain position I can ‘trigger’ a palpitation, Arms above head or if I twist in a certain position.

Just curious if anyone has anything similar?? Obviously I have concerns if I have a blockage, enlarged heart or developed some sort of cardiomyopathy etc etc

Any advice or help is appreciated

Hi there - I think I should point out that while you had your 24 hour monitor your heart was normal but it might go astray at other times. One can have a 7 day monitor which picks up nothing - and days later a heart can do its own weird thing. Very annoying! But the echo will pick up peculiarities and it's good to know that was fine.

I've been having similar episodes for approx. past 6 months. Was give. Nitro.patch and spray for angina pain. A month later ended up leaving work and going to emerg. Stayed in hospital a week ct angiogram was normal ended up being given calcium channel blockers for MVD (microvascular spasms or disease). Feeling better now that meds are stable. Thinking of transitioning back to work now.

Any similar experiences?

Yes! I ended having a electrophysiology study. Which showed I had a defect in my heart that had to be ablated. Burned in several areas and possible second ablation. Nothing showed up previously on EKG, cardiac

monitor for 30 days except dropped heart rate.

But then I started to have episodes of nearly fainting. That’s when the electrophysiology study came into play.
