Does stress make ectopic return or worse???
They are ruining my life
Hi, I know what you mean - I think if you asked your doc you'll be told that stress will make it worse. Perhaps u need to ask your doc to find out for you.
There are quite a few different arrythmias. Something that's ruining your life needs investigating.
I get ectopic beats approx every 3-4 seconds. I'm not a nervous person but these things are almost ruining my quality of life. Am due for eps +/- ablation next week. I'm also told I will sooner or later need a pacemaker as my heart rate drops to 40 quite frequently. Just having this condition is stressful enough, you never know what to expect. I've had this problem for over a year now and it's getting worse. I'm in my late sixties, female and feel buggered most of the time. (That's Australian for tired, listless etc.) 😄
I'd be happy with only 6 ectopics. Mine were 4250 over 24 hours, bit of overkill eh? It really knocks me around.
Sending biggest hugs to you. Did the medication surpress it? Do you eat healthy ? X
Not as well as I should I must admit! Have been on 150mg of flecainide until 3 weeks ago. No meds now until procedure. Didn't like how this drug made me feel so won't be going on it again regardless. Are you on any medication? I think the pacemaker may be the answer for me. Be glad when it's all sorted. I'm told that they won't put me on a drug because 40 is way too low and that would make it worse, so in a way I would be happy with a pacemaker if that will put a stop to all this nonsense. Hope you can feel better.
Also do you feel yours. Mines like a fish flopping around or like a gun shot on automatic.. hqte them. I have anxiety also.
I'm not a doctor but I have a little medical knowledge. If you only get a few (and actually most people do at some stage) I would not be concerned. I know it can feel quite scary when it does happen and being nervous will make you feel them more. Meditation can help but finding a good gp to explain all this too you will certainly help. Unfortunately to be taken notice of they need hard evidence on a holter monitor. No i don't have a thyroid problem, but if you do that will explain your nervousness and anxiety. I hope some of this has been of help to you.
Hi there. I know exactly what you are going through - it's pretty miserable. I've had 2 holter monitors over the last 2 years. The first recorded almost 3000 ectopics - the cardiologist said don't worry - it's normal! The second only recorded 4 ectopics but my lowest heart rate was 48 which I wasn't pleased about. Again the doctor said some people have a lower heart rate and not to worry. I run a bit but I'm no athlete so I don't like my heart rate dipping so low at times.
I'm not on medication. I have raynauds syndrome so the doctor said some medication could make it worse and if it can put up the ectopics then I should.
I'm waiting on an echocardiogram just to further investigate these arrhythmias. Sometimes I just get a sudden flutter in my throat which I don't think was ever picked up on the holter so I want to get it further checked out.
I hope you don't let these ectopics take over your life. I have also let them rule what I do and don't do. I'm trying to cope a little better with them. Good luck.
I have thyroid issues. Can never get my med level right so i went to another endocrinologist. 1st the vertigo then now 2 yrs with these flutters. In the throat in the chest weird its like my heart farts that sudden. I have had 3 holters never happened when i wore them. 2 stress tests and 3 echos. All normal. Electrophysiologist said see how i go the bext two months but i would get one or two and now i have these episodes more so i feel after eating for 5 hrs or so of a thump every 6 min non stop. I hate it and they say yoir heart wont stop. Im 34 you? To make you feel better she said if a holter captures more than 20% of beats in 24 hrs which i had over 130000 whick is like 260000 beats is a cause for concern. So 3000 sounds like alot but isnt. I probably had more just didnt catch it. And i know its not anxiety as anxiety is a fast hr not a floppy one. First cardiologist recc flecinide but i didnt take it and she was happy i didnt as she said you have a healthy heart.
I had ectopics at the rate of 20,000+ a day (20%-30%) for more than five years and my life was ruled by them. I would feel all the things mentioned in the above posts. I was woken every night by the "big thumps" from when my ticker missed a beat and then made up for it with a double.
I got this problem (according to the Dr in A&E) by taking a pain killer for three years that is known to cause rhythm problems.
Even though I immediately stopped taking it the "bumps" persisted.
This then led to me having heart failure at the worst level.
I was scheduled to have an ablation but, because of other health problems, was unable to do this.
I followed a link on this site and read about Iodine being able to help with my problem. After a couple of weeks researching this I decided to get some nascent iodine drops and started at one drop a day and built up slowly to see what happened.
After five days the ectopics stopped - suddenly stopped!
I have an AliveCor monitor and checked - but I knew from how I felt and the full night's sleep I was getting that the ectopics were not there now.
That was six weeks ago and I still haven't had any ectopics!!! Woo Hoo!!!
The nascent iodine I take is from Harmonic Innerprizes which is Iodine in a vegetable glycerin.
It costs about £30 for a 600 drop bottle and I currently take six drops a day - so you can see that it is not too expensive in the long run.
If you have thyroid problems you would need to see your Dr before starting iodine treatment - this is very important!
If you'd like to know more about nascent iodine have a look at this site:-

Make a cuppa and then scroll down to the webinar and watch it for an hour. You will learn a lot (it's a bit boring in places though.)
Please remember that this may not suit everyone - so DO LOTS OF RESEARCH AND TALK TO YOUR GP - especially if you have thyroid issues.
Iodine has made a big difference to my quality of life so - although I realise that it might not be for everyone - I wanted to tell you about my experience with it so that you could start your own research.
George.
Firstly im so so happy u feel better! Because i tqke thyroid medication that gives me the iodine i think so id be scared to take it because on and off im over medicated. Sou ds so good though id do anything for it to go away.
I don't have thyroid issues (thank goodness) but my wife has so we are waiting to see what her Dr says before trying her on iodine. I think she will have to slowly come off her Levothyroxine before starting the iodine. She also has dementia so I have to be doubly careful.
I found out about iodine from another post on here and decided that, as all else had failed to help me to get rid of the ectopics, to give it a serious looking at.
I deliberately made sure that I changed nothing else in my lifestyle or diet as I wanted to be able to see whether iodine had any effect.
Please remember that I did a LOT of research before taking this step and would advise anyone contemplating it to do the same.
