Is it safe to take an extra propanolol when going through a period of night Tach episodes?

depends on your tablet strength, but 10 to 80 mg as a single dose is the usual range. So if you have 10 or 40 mg tablets it's reasonable to double the dose, but you should really get your doctors agreement.

just goingto be away from home for a few nights and thought this might be the easiest solution.

Sounds reasonable but taking too much propranolol may slow your heart too much, lower your blood pressure and thus make you dizzy or liable to faint, so best increase by small amounts at a time
