Hi, when the stomach is full, the heart works harder while digesting the food so it can make the heart beat faster. I find that I have to eat small meals or I suffer with ectopics and a fast heart rate. Fatty, salty foods make things really bad and foods with msg are a no no. Check whether there is anything in particular that is triggering the tachycardia or I have read before that acid reflux can be a cause? Maybe worth looking this up out of interest. Good luck.

You may have developed an intolerance to certain foods. Try reading some of Patrick Holdford's books or website for details. Eliminating the offending food(s) absolutely totally for 3 - 6 months can cause the immune system to forget the reaction, but you need to take steps to heal the gut at the same time (google 'leaky gut')

You can either follow a recommended diet eliminating many things, then gradually including them again, in order to try to identify the culprits, or you can spend between £250 and £300 getting tested privately. Often it is the foods we eat most often or feel 'we can't go without' that are actually causing the most problem, but where there is a leaky gut it could include anything, so healing the gut up is essential. L-Glutamine helps to do this, and also flax seeds. In the UK you can buy these at a health shop or some supermarkets, for a couple of pounds. Sprinkle a tablespoonful onto your cereal each day, and drink plenty of water with it. one result - no more constipation!

Also don't consume anything with aspartame or Monosodium glutamate (msg), or use artificial sweeteners (and try cutting down on the caffeine and sugar!)

Hi , this also happens to me, was firstly when tired, then it started after alchol and now happens after a large meal. Its a little better now im on bisoprolol . Awaiting cathater ablation after a big attack last new year. If your having a large meal try to rest after it as the heart i think is having to work harder .

I don't know if it's POTS or not, reason I say that, when I eat, even on a beta blocker the heart still goes to 120 regardless.... My mom said if it was POTS it would respond to the medication.

Armyguy does yours not happen when you lie down? I find mine worse when sitting/resting , unless it's because im more aware? Sorry to hear yours doesn't respond to the medication, mine stays just under 100 now with food and after night shifts but doesn't work with alcohol and goes over 120 so not worth it.

You know what mine sounds like more is dumping symdrome...

So say when I eat and have these episodes, when lay down my heart rate is 80 or 90 But when I stand it's 120 to 130 after eating, now I do believe I have mild pots, when I don't eat sitting I'm around 85ish but standing I can get up to 104 ish max, when I walk I actually notice that my heart declines slightly from standing, goes to 98 walking normal, it's kinda strange, but when I eat my heart goes crazy, 120 to 130 standing, for up to 5 hours, no matter what I eat, no matter how much I eat, it just takes off. I'm stumped on it all.

I am now on a beta blocker until my tilt table test to confirm it all, they said my heart looks healthy on all other test, I'm just worried tho, like tonight was such a great night with my family, first night I said to hell with all my issues and anxiety, just enjoyed it and won't lie I didn't want it to end, why I'm still awake at 144 in the morning. Anyways I need to go to bed, I feel like this is going to be my last Christmas, it's a odd feeling, I had this feeling before and my dad passed away from cancer and that was in 09, I actually stepped out side tonight to ask God to give me just one more Christmas and id be ready to go if that happens, I was in tears..... Just one.

Hopefully you can get this sorted when you have your tests done, theres so much they can do these days. Have a good sleep.
