My Electrophysiologist told me to a monitor called Heart check. It seems that everyone on here mentions Alivecore. Does anyone know the difference between the two or why one is superior to the other?

Hi Mary,

I don't know whether ones superior to the other or not.

What I managed to find out is heart check is Canadian & approved by One of the Canadian health agencies.

Alivecor is approved by Food&Drugs Association & is currently being appraised by NICE (which is the body that regulates what drugs&technology etc are approved for specific conditions in UK).

AliveCor may not have been approved by NICE yet but many EPs accept the results. On the morning after my ablation when my EP came round to see me (the registrar was doing the ward round) I told him that I had bought an AliveCor and he said "great!! You will be able to email me the results. When I went back into persistent AF less than 72 hours later I did email him the results and also the twice daily readings and he acted on those by bringing forward the planned review at six weeks and also referred me to a heart valve specialist straight away.
